  • Create occasions of meet each other for  the inner community and the external community

Main activities

the project was based on the active participation of young detainees who have been involved in initiatives that have encouraged the practice of the right of citizenship and the encounter between the city of Florence and its Minor Penal Institute, located in a historic building in the city center.

The project also reopened the prison gates to citizens through some initiatives designed and implemented by the boys there, thereby encouraging a new relationship between the parties, encouraging forms of mutual collaboration aimed at overcoming the stereotypes that often make it difficult to relate Between the small inner and outer walls.

During the project  the juveniles involved, accompanied by the staff of the Giovanni Michelucci Foundation, have devised an itinerary to visit the structure aimed at citizenship, which includes: The use of historic-artistic areas (baroque church, cloister and the historic wooden ceiling), the preparation, construction  of a photographic exhibition on juvenile detention, the presentation of artistic artifacts and works by juveniles in the field Of the Continuous Workshops of Art and Nature and Carpentry. The exhibition called "The City Rediscovered with the juveniles" was held from 21 to 28 September 2012, with an opening and guided tour on September 20th with  the participation of authorities, operators, students and citizens
